Responsible Beekeeping

Our course, Introduction to Responsible Beekeeping, surpasses the requirements needed for City of Calgary beekeeping certification. The workshops and lectures are taught to a maximum of 20 people at a time so individual issues, questions, and concerns can be expressed and answered.

To attend, send an email to Ron. We are planning our course dates for this year, 2026. Ten hours of lectures will be online. Field experience will be offered after you complete the lectures.

This course has a nominal fee of $100. But we want everyone to have a chance to learn responsible beekeeping. Simply send a note to Ron and if you need it, you will be given a full scholarship so you can attend without cost.

To register for this course, send your name and email address to Ron Miksha. An Introduction to Responsible Beekeeping is free for anyone who cannot afford the nominal $100 course fee. We want to be sure that cost is not a barrier to deciding if beekeeping is right for you and for getting your City of Calgary license. We also hope to encourage best practices beekeeping, which is priceless for the entire beekeeping community.

The course is online and we will have a course limit of 20 students. Field experience will allow you to work with the bees in smaller groups.
