Responsible Beekeeping

Our course, Introduction to Responsible Beekeeping, surpasses the requirements needed for City of Calgary beekeeping certification. The workshops and lectures are taught to a maximum of 20 people at a time so individual issues, questions, and concerns can be expressed and answered.

Responsible Beekeeping: Class begins at 8:30 am, Saturday, May 11, and lasts until 5:00 pm, the same day. This is a one-day course for beginners and for beekeepers with a couple years of experience who want to refresh their knowledge and pick up some new ideas.

This course is free – but you must register. To register, send your name and email address to Ron Miksha. Why is this course free? An Introduction to Responsible Beekeeping is free because we want to be sure that cost is not a barrier to deciding if beekeeping is right for you and for getting your City of Calgary license. We also hope to encourage best practices beekeeping, which is priceless for the beekeeping community.

Bring your lunch and a hungry appetite to learn. We will have coffee, tea, snacks, water, and (soft) drinks. You’ll want to bring a notebook and pen – we provide everything else you’ll need. Dress casually and come to relax and soak up beekeeping!
